Carl has trained in martial arts his whole life, mainly focusing on kickboxing and boxing. He started karate and boxing as a young child, and then like most, he watched the movie ‘Kickboxer’ when he was six years old and was addicted.
From then on, kickboxing was a craft he had always practised around his boxing. Then he fell in love with Brazilian jujitsu in his late teens, and still to this day always rolls when he gets the chance. Competing as a child and in his early twenties, led him to help and train others.
"I train hard to be the best all-around version of a martial artist I can be so that I can pass the skill and information on to my assistants and students.
"I believe martial arts is forever a learning tool that we can always upgrade. Over time, I started to see more and more repeat customers from all levels and backgrounds, which is when I decided to start Shadowbox Martial Arts.
"I've trained in many gyms over the years and along with my working background, I have learnt the importance of adapting to each person's style, needs and personality. Training brings out the best in each person, and our personalities emerge in our craft.
"Martial arts and helping others achieve their goals, then watching them transcend their success into their everyday lives, feels amazing. And I wouldn’t change a single thing about what I do."
